  • It's Complicated: Tales of Family and Home

    Three masters of literary fiction – Mai Al-Nakib, Hala Alyan and Awais Khan – discuss their respective novels in which characters navigate complicated personal, political and cultural milieu. Al-Nakib’s An Unlasting Home chronicles the story of a professor returning to Kuwait after years living in America, only to find herself dangerously reckoning with a country at odds with her childhood memories. Alyan’s The Arsonist’s City follows a Levantine family spread across the globe who convene in Beirut after the passing of their patriarch. Khan’s Someone Like Her traces the story of a young Pakistani woman who relocates to London intent on rebuilding her life savaged by evil and tragedy. With Jyotsna Mohan.
