The Art of Translating Poetry
Here, it is not only words that are translated, but the very breath of the poem.We approach the idea of “beautiful betrayal” as both a craft and a conscience: how do we decide what to let go of and what to restore—without betraying the poem itself?Joining the session are Dai Rahmi, Dr Ghanim Samarrai, and Soukaina Habiballah—voices that blend linguistic experimentation with the art of performance. Together, we explore a spectrum that stretches from sonic resonance to the energy of meaning, and from the written poem to the poem as spoken and heard.And the enduring question: does the translator have the right to write their own poem within another’s, or must they be content with crafting its echo?
