Abdulaziz Al Musallam

Abdulaziz Al Musallam is a poet, writer, and researcher and a prominent figure in the UAE's arts and culture industry. He is the Director-General of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, a member of Sharjah Book Authority's Board of Directors, and the Founder and Chairman of Kalamun Publishing House. He obtained his bachelor's degree from Lebanon and returned to Sharjah, where he received a postgraduate diploma in cultural heritage. He later earned a PhD degree in History and Cultural Heritage from Mohamed V University in Morocco.

He released his debut poetry collection Travel of the Nights in 1990. In 1999, he released his first work on heritage, entitled The Folk Memory. Since then, he has written several works about oral history, folklore, proverbs, Emirati accents, dress, and fairy tales. He has also written and published poems, travelogues, and children's stories.

He has also worked as a presenter and producer for television shows such as Zayed's Diwan, The Echo of Letters, Heritage Alphabets, Legends, and Descriptions all focused on poetry and cultural heritage. These shows were aired on networks in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah.

Al Musallam has written for several periodicals and publications and has authored over 30 books. He is the editor-in-chief of Al-Mawruth, a peer-reviewed heritage journal, as well as Murawid, a magazine focused on cultural heritage. He has earned various accolades and distinctions for his services to cultural heritage, including the Sheikh Zayed Award for Arts and Culture in 2015 and the UNESCO Abu Dhabi Award for Cultural Heritage in 2022.
