Ahlam Bolooki
Ahlam Bolooki is the Chief Executive Officer of the Emirates Literature Foundation, where she leads a dynamic literary organisation whose vision is to build a society rooted in reading and storytelling – positioning the UAE as a global cultural and literary hub – and whose mission is to cultivate a thriving literary ecosystem that fosters curiosity, builds human connection, inspires future generations, and unites the world through stories.
She also serves as the Festival Director of the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature, the Middle East’s largest celebration of the written and spoken word. The Festival provides a dynamic platform for open dialogue, creativity, and forward-thinking conversations that help cultivate a more empathetic and connected society.
In addition, Ahlam is the General Manager of ELF Publishing, the Foundation’s independent publishing arm, which is committed to amplifying powerful regional voices in children and adult fiction that deserve a global audience.
Beyond her formal work, Ahlam fosters accessibility as a Board Member of the Kalimat Foundation, which supports vulnerable and visually impaired children by providing them with access to knowledge and ideas through books in a variety of formats.
She also contributes to academic governance via the Advisory Board for the Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature (BAELL) and the Master’s in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (MATESOL) programmes at the American University of Sharjah, helping to guide the future of literary and linguistic education in the region.
