Ahmed and Rashed bin Shabib

Ahmed and Rashed bin Shabib are Emirati brothers whose work bridges culture, design, and urbanism. As founders of Brownbook, the influential magazine that shaped conversations on Middle Eastern urban identity for over a decade, they have led projects that transform industrial spaces into creative hubs and curated exhibitions at global institutions. Their groundbreaking research on the UAE’s salt flats culminated in Anatomy of Sabkhas, earning them the Golden Lion for Best National Pavilion at the Venice Biennale in 2021. Twice nominated for the Aga Khan Award for Architecture, the brothers now serve as cultural advisors at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, continuing their mission to weave sustainability and heritage into the fabric of future cities.
