Alexander McCall Smith
Sir Alexander “Sandy” McCall Smith is a Scottish author, and legal scholar. He has written more than 120 books, which have been translated into 46 languages, and have sold millions of copies worldwide.
He became a full-time fiction writer following the success of his work The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency series, now 26 volumes strong. Sandy’s other works include The Sunday Philosophy Club series, The 44 Scotland Street series, and numerous standalone works.
In addition, he has published poetry, and has worked as a librettist for composers of opera.
