Ali Abu Al Reesh
Ali Abu Al Reesh is a prominent Emirati novelist and writer, born in 1956. He graduated in Psychology from Ain Shams University and held senior editorial roles, including Executive Editor of Al Ittihad newspaper until 2008, before joining the Cultural and Heritage Authority. His literary career began in 1979 with the short story collection Clawed, followed by his debut novel Al-I'tiraf (The Confession) in 1980, which was selected among the top 100 Arabic novels of the 20th century. He has published over 22 novels and two plays, with works translated into multiple languages, including French and English. Abu Al Reesh has received numerous awards, notably the UAE Appreciation Award for Science, Arts and Literature (2008) and the GCC Literature Award (2016), alongside honors from regional and international cultural institutions. His notable works include The Sword and the Flower, Zina the Queen, An Exceptional Woman, and Zayed: The Exceptional Personality.
