Andy Stanton

Andy Stanton is an award-winning children’s author, whose hilarious Mr Gum books have sold over three million copies in the UK alone. They have been translated into more than thirty languages and have won several awards, including the Red House Children’s Book Award and the Roald Dahl Funny Prize.

He has also written picture books for younger children, including Going to the Volcano and Danny McGee Drinks the Sea. In 2019, Stanton published The Paninis of Pompeii, and wrote a musical based on Mr Gum and the Dancing Bear for the National Theatre.

Stanton lives in North London. He studied English at Oxford but they kicked him out. Before becoming an author, he was a film script reader, an NHS lackey, a tiny potato and lots of other things. He has many interests, but best of all he likes cartoons, books and music (even jazz).
