Hiba Rasheed
Hiba Rasheed is a UAE-based Sudanese multi-award-winning Spoken Word and Slam Poet whose work reverberates with themes of spirituality, introspection, injustice, and patriotism in powerful lyrical expressions.
She is a three-time winner of the Rooftop Rhythms Slam Poetry Competition in Abu Dhabi (December 2019, May 2020, October 2020), and made history as the first female poet to win the Grand Slam Poetry title in May 2020.
In March 2024, she was awarded the Gratitude Award by Al Salam Community School for pioneering a poetry workshop that inspired students from years 7, 8, and 9.
In April 2025, Hiba's poetry video “Ya Sudan” was screened at the 12th International Video Poetry Festival in Athens, Greece as well as received a Special Mention Award for being “one of greatest works” screened at the festival.
