Julia Wheeler
Julia Wheeler is a writer, journalist and interviewer who worked for the BBC for more than 15 years, including as the BBC’s Gulf Correspondent, based in the UAE, and covering the Arabian Peninsula between 2000 and 2010.
Wheeler has moderated large-scale conferences and chaired intergovernmental forums. She is chair and interviewer at several festivals including Cheltenham (Literature and Science), Hay, Manchester, Stanford’s Travel Writers Festival and the Chiswick, Stratford and Budleigh Salterton Literary Festivals. She has chaired events at The British Library, The Royal Geographical Society and onboard Cunard’s Queen Mary 2, as well as for Warwick University, the Times subscriber events and The Evening Standard Stories Festival. She sits on the board of the Stratford Literary Festival and is a trustee at a Kent secondary school.
