Layla Almotawa
Layla Almotawa, a Bahraini novelist and journalist, is the author of My Heart Is Not for Sale, which topped bestseller lists upon its release, followed by The Forgotten Between Two Waters (2024), praised by leading writers such as Wasini Al-Araj and Qasim Haddad, and analysed by critic Mamdouh Rizk in his book The Novelist’s Anger.
She took part in the 2016 International Prize for Arabic Fiction workshop and contributed to How Many Lungs Does the Coast Have?, published in celebration of Sharjah’s selection as the 2019 UNESCO World Book Capital.
Almotawa has participated in numerous major literary events, establishing herself as one of Bahrain’s and the Arab world’s leading literary voices.
