Luke Leafgren
Luke Leafgren is Assistant Dean at Harvard College, where he teaches courses on translation and Arabic. He began translating Arabic novels in 2010, and his tenth book is scheduled for publication in 2026.
His work has been longlisted for the National Book Award and shortlisted for the EBRD Literature Prize. He has won the Saif Ghobash Banipal Prize for Arabic Literary Translation twice, for his translations of The President’s Gardens by Muhsin Al-Ramli and Mister N by Najwa Barkat. In 2025, he was also shortlisted for the Saif Ghobash Banipal Prize for his translation of The Tale of a Wall: Reflections on Hope and Freedom by Nasser Abu Srour (Penguin Press, 2024).
