Majid Al Ansari
Majid Al Ansari is an award-winning Emirati director and producer who was named Filmmaker of the Year at the 2016 Berlin International Film Festival.
His debut feature film, Zinzana (Rattle the Cage), premiered at Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas, and later at the BFI London Film Festival in 2015. Variety described it as a ‘world-class neo-noir thriller’. The film also made history as the first Emirati feature to be acquired by the global streaming platform Netflix.
Since then, Al Ansari has produced four feature-length Arab films, including Shabab Sheyab, Rashid and Rajab, Scales — which premiered at the Venice International Film Festival Critics’ Week and won the Club Verona Award for Most Innovative Film — and HWJN.
In 2020, he directed three episodes of the Netflix series Paranormal, based on the renowned novels by Ahmed Khaled Tawfik. The series became the platform’s first original Egyptian production and a top-trending release. He later directed the anthology horror series Kaboos, and his second feature film, Hoba, is set for release in 2025.
