Mohammed Ahmed Al Murr

HE Mohammed Al Murr previously served as President of the Federal National Council, and currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Library Foundation. HE Al Murr's contributions extend to multiple fields, such as politics and culture, and he is considered one of the most prominent cultural figures in the worlds of literature, thought, culture, poetry, Arabic calligraphy and the arts in the UAE.

HE Al Murr contributed effectively to the prosperity of the cultural and literary movement in the UAE from the beginning of the 1980s to date. His contributions included many writings and articles that focused on the local community and Emirati writers, in addition to his efforts in documenting the Emirati dialects, which contributed to translating the culture and knowledge stock of the country at the local, regional and international levels, which made him a teacher and a rich reference in cultural affairs in the country.

HE Al Murr published more than 20 books and novels, many of which were translated into languages such as English and Hindi, such as Mona Lisa’s Wink and Stories from Dubai. Two of his books have also been taught as part of the curriculum at various universities in the country. HE Al Murr participated in establishing several cultural projects that contributed to highlighting the cultural status of the UAE in the world, including the Etihad Museum, the Opera House, the Sheikh Zayed Book Award, the Culture Symposium and Horouf Arabia magazine, which deals with Arabic calligraphy.
