Naeema Al Hosani
Naeema Al Hosani is the Head of the Department of Geography and Urban Sustainability at the United Arab Emirates University, she previously served as Acting Director of the University Library.
She holds a PhD in Cartography from the University of Kansas, USA (2009). She has worked as Assistant Dean of Student Affairs in the College of Humanities. She was awarded the Prime Minister’s Medal – Special Category in its sixth session. She has conducted research in cartography and geographic information systems (GIS), and has translated several books, including The World of Maps and Maps and Journeys, which won the Ibn Battuta Award for Translated Travel Literature.

A session celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Ibn Battuta Prize for Travel Literature, exploring how this art form has become a cultural bridge connecting East and West, and reinterpreting the world through an Arab humanistic lens, with Poet and thinker Nouri Al-Jarrah, General Director of the Prize, joins Dr Naima Al Hosani, Tim Mackintosh-Smith, and Dr Ahmad Barqawi.
