Nivea Serrao
Nivea Serrao spent most of her childhood watching cartoons and doodling and scribbling on every available surface (much to her parents’ chagrin). Her love of storytelling and passion for children’s media eventually led her to a brief stint working at Sesame Street and the New York International Children’s Film Festival, before launching into a career in pop culture journalism, where she’s written about middle grade and young adult fiction along with TV shows, movies, and comics aimed at younger audiences for more than 15 years. These days, she works at the Emirates Literature Foundation, where she helps programme the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature — along with other cultural events across Dubai — and hosts the Foundation’s Teen and Adult Book Clubs. When she isn’t writing or illustrating stories, you can find her building crosswords, playing board games, and hanging out with her dog, Kenzo.
