Nouri Al Jarrah
Nouri Al Jarrah is prominent Arab poet, and the Director General of the Arabic Centre for Geographic Literature and the Ibn Battuta Prize for Travel Literature.
He began his poetic career in 1982, and his complete works have been published in three volumes. His work has been the subject of seven critical books and academic studies.
His writings have been translated into more than ten languages, and he received the French Max Jacob Poetry Prize in 2023 and the Primo Napoli Prize in 2023.
He founded and co-founded several influential cultural magazines, most notably Al-Naqid, Al-Katiba, and Al-Jadeed. He is considered one of the leading voices to have contributed to the development of contemporary Arab poetry and to connecting Arabic literature with the global translation movement.
