Omer Taher
Omer Taher is an Egyptian writer, journalist, and poet who has spent more than twenty years working across satire, fiction, poetry, screenwriting, and songwriting. He has published over twenty books, including Shaklha Bazat (It Seems to Have Gotten Worse), Radio Songs, Dogs Don’t Eat Chocolate, The Prophet’s Legacy, Kohl and Cardamom, Egyptian Workers, and The Transportation Book. Several of his works have been translated and have sold millions of copies.
He has written screenplays for films such as You Fly!, Captain Egypt, and Yom Maloosh Lazmah (An Unwanted Day), and co-wrote the television series Super Hanidy as well as other TV and radio programmes.
Taher has received numerous awards, including the Kuwait State Encouragement Award in 2013, and was shortlisted for the Naguib Mahfouz Medal for Literature.
