Soukaina Habiballah
Soukaina Habiballah is a Moroccan novelist, poet, and artist, and an Honorary Fellow in Creative Writing at the University of Iowa. She works as a creative writing coach for young people and co-manages the artistic collective Shaeirat, dedicated to theatrical and poetic performances across Europe and the Arab world.
Her 2014 novel and 2019 short story collection were both awarded creative writing grants from the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture (AFAC), and she produced a children’s book as part of the Dubai International Writing Program. She has published five poetry collections, won the Mu‘allaqa Prize and the Nadine Shams Award for Screenwriting, and participated in poetic plays staged at international festivals. Her works have been translated into multiple languages.
