Uttama Kirit Patel
Uttama Kirit Patel is a writer, editor, adoptive mother, and author of the novel Shape of an Apostrophe. Holding an MPhil in Psychology from the University of Cambridge, her work explores themes of family, culture, and unbelonging, and has been featured in The Tribune, Vogue, BBC, LitHub, Times of India, and Wasafiri, among others.
Born in Abu Dhabi, Uttama has lived in over a dozen cities, using storytelling to provoke the ordinary and illuminate the human experience. She is the founder of South Asian Parent magazine, was a semi-finalist in the Raymond Carver Short Story Contest, and received a nomination for the PEN/Robert J. Dau Short Story Prize for Emerging Writers.
