Nobel Prize–winning writer Wole Soyinka is a towering figure in world literature and one of the most influential voices of our time. A multifaceted artist - playwright, poet, novelist, essayist, philosopher, academic, and human rights activist - his internationally acclaimed body of work spans drama, poetry, novels, memoir, music, and film, including Chronicles from the Land of the Happiest People on Earth, Mandela’s Earth and Other Poems, and The Burden of Memory. An esteemed teacher, he has held positions at leading universities such as Harvard, Yale, Duke, and Emory, and remains deeply engaged in global artistic and human rights communities; his work and teaching explore how culture, citizenship, and the arts shape identity across times and places.
