Yasir Suleiman
Professor Yasir Suleiman is a leading Palestinian scholar and Emeritus Professor of Modern Arabic Studies at the University of Cambridge. He previously held the His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Chair at Cambridge and the Iraq Chair at the University of Edinburgh. His work focuses on sociolinguistics, language ideology, identity, and cultural politics in the Arab world. He was awarded the Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for his scholarly contributions. He serves as Chair of the Board of Trustees of the International Prize for Arabic Fiction (IPAF). His major books include “A War of Words” and “The Arabic Language and National Identity”.
