Zahran Al Qasmi

Zahran Al Qasimi was born in the state of Dima and Al Taiyin in the Sultanate of Oman. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Arabic language from Sultan Qaboos University and a Master's degree in Arabic literature from Ain Shams University. Al Qasimi started writing at a young age, and in 2006 he published his first collection of poems. He has since published five novels, one collection of short stories and six collections of poetry. He has received numerous literary honours, the most notable of which was the Cultural Creativity Award from the Omani Society for Writers and Literates in 2015 for his novel The Sniper and the International Prize for Arabic Fiction in 2023 for his novel The Exile of the Water Diviner.
